Adults can be defined as animals or human beings that have reached their full developmental stage. In the context of humans, the word adult may mean something connected to social or legal ideas. Contrary to the term "minor" or "non-adult" legally-aged adult refers to a person that has reached the age of the age of majority. They are regarded as responsible, independent and capable. Also, they can be described as an "major". The age at which a child turns an adult legally is 18, however, the definition of"legal maturity" can be different depending on the legal or country system, as well as the psychological condition of the child.

When it comes to the life span of human beings, adulthood refers to the point in which the person has achieved full physical and intellectual maturity.
